For over 35 years, the Anacostia Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) has been at the forefront in working towards the progression of the Anacostia / Far Southeast community.
Since its inception, AEDC has built retail facilities, office developments, residential properties and facilitated entrepreneurship leading to an increased number of jobs, first time home buyers, and an overall improved quality of life for the Anacostia / Far Southeast DC community.

Washington DC Hall of Fame Member and President of AEDC, Albert "Butch" Hopkins, participated in the First Annual Jack H. Olender Leadership Academy on Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at the Charles Sumner School, 1201 17th Street, NW Washington, DC. The Academy, started in 2008, pairs eager local area students with Washington's finest business professionals and community leaders for one-on-one educational sessions.
