Urban Hydroponic Gardens
The Anacostia Economic Development Corporation (AEDC), in partnership with the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) shared a commitment to build capacity in underserved neighborhoods by constructing three (3) Urban Food Hubs in Washington, DC.
-
UDC Van Ness Campus – Hydroponic Facility
-
Bertie Backus Campus – Hydroponic Facility
-
P.R. Harris Educational Campus –

Two (2) additional Food Hubs are currently in the pre-development/pre-construction phase.
The four components of the Urban Food Hubs are (1) food production, (2) food preparation, (3) food distribution and (4) waste and water management which are designed to improve access to fresh food, improve sustainability, provide training, job creation, and entrepreneurial opportunities.
